Why We Need Salvation. (Why We Need Grace.)
Think about it.
We were born into this world with the nature of Adam – a sinner in need of forgiveness and a spiritually dead corpse. We are lifeless spiritually because the Holy Spirit of God does not live inside of us. This is what everyone born into this world (excluding Jesus) inherited due to the fall of Adam and Eve. We are born “in Adam.”
Because of indwelling sin, we can never come even close to the presence of God without dying physically. Because we are sinners by nature, we must accept the penalty and consequences for our sins. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death….” However, the apostle Paul does not stop there saying “the wages of sin is death.” He adds the free gift of God. What is this gift? “The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Amen!
God’s gift to us is life – eternal life, His very own life. John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Many Christians ignorantly and blindly miss this critical Biblical truth – God raises us from spiritual death to spiritual life so we can experience His intimate love daily as Jesus lives His life through us. I know for I was one of them who did this for almost 20 years as a Christian. Ignorantly, I lived the Christian life like I was still dead.
We come to Jesus:
- To have our sins forgiven and to be cleansed of all unrighteousness at the cross through His shed blood (I John 1:9).
- To have Jesus raise us from death spiritually to eternal life – His Resurrection. Ephesians 2:4-5 “Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.”
If we think we do not need to be saved, we will not come to Jesus for salvation. We would reject His free gift of eternal life. This is very easy to grasp and comprehend. Just have an open and humble heart so the Holy Spirit can show you.
This is why it is called GRACE and why we need GRACE every day.. We don’t deserve salvation and grace one bit, but God loves us so deeply that He personally took the initiative to provide our salvation. God restored our relationship with Him through the Death and Resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ.
Will you accept God’s invitation for salvation? Only Jesus can fill the empty void in the depths of your heart.
If you already are born again, the basic gospel you just read shows the importance of simply letting Jesus live His life through you. You simply take a step back, rest in the love of Jesus, and let Jesus live His life through you. Let the love of God be your primary motivation for everything you do.
