Should I REST or SWEAT?
Quite a dumb question if you think about it. The sad fate is most Christians actually wind up sweating of works of the flesh. They are sincere in serving God, but don’t realize much of their service is done in self-effort. It is easy to be sincere, and sincerely wrong.
God gives us an excellent Biblical example of what a priest of His must do when coming into the presence of God.
Ezekiel 44:17-18 “And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, while they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within. They shall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and shall have linen breeches upon their loins; they shall not gird themselves with any thing that causeth SWEAT”.
God’s priests (We) are to wear linen, which is obviously symbolic of the purity, sinless state of the Christian in Christ. Wool is symbolic because wool sweats. Wool represents the putrid, stench of the flesh.
When a person is sweating, you sure don’t want to be hanging around their armpits. If we don’t want that, how do you think God feels when His born-again child comes into His presence sweating of the putrid stench of the flesh?
Linen symbolizes our rest in Christ, not our sweat for Christ. REST IN JESUS, brethren, so Jesus can live His life through you. He does amazing things through us when we are at rest in Him.
Choose your rest wisely without sweating.
