The Significance of CHRIST IN YOU as your DAILY VICTORY – Part 1
History Always Repeats
Yes, history always does repeat. Why do we never learn its lessons? The story in the Bible that frequently comes to mind is the exodus journey of Israel from Egypt to Canaan. God very clearly stated this journey was to take only eleven days. Deuteronomy 1:2 “There are eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir unto Kadesh-barnea.” Yet, the journey actually took 40 years. (Yes! That is 40 years, not even 40 days.) What the heck went wrong? It is as if I drove from New York City to California. The trip would take approximately three days. If I factor in the Israelite journey of eleven days, my drive to California would take approximately ten years. I joke of saying goodbye to my family, embarking on this three-day trip, and arriving ten years later. I would miss my grade school daughters growing up. By the time they see or hear from me ten years later, I just might be a grandpa.
How dumb can people be? Very dumb, obviously. Incredible isn’t it? Yet, Israel did take 40 years to reach the Promised Land. Can one be so easily duped? The answer is definitely YES! Even today, so many Christians are so very easily deceived by Satan. Jesus wants to expose this so the believer can truly be set free.
My prayer for you is that God will reveal to you the consistent similarity between the Israelite journey out of Egypt and the Christian walk out of the unsaved world.
It is absolutely essential and critical to understand the significance of this Exodus story.
• EGYPT represents the unsaved world.
• CANAAN represents Christ NOW (not just heaven when we die).
I John 5:11-12 “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
• The WILDERNESS represents our journey to enter into the rest of Christ and His love. Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and Ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”
An eleven-day journey lasted 40 years because the nation of Israel refused to believe that it was quite simple and effortless to enter God’s rest and love. They misunderstood that the same faith that brought them out of Egypt and through the Red Sea was the same faith needed to enter Canaan.
They refused to enter due to unbelief. Read what the author of the book of Hebrews writes. Hebrews 3:16-19 “For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was He grieved forty years? Was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware He that they should not enter into His rest, but to them that believe not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”
The apostle Paul also states in Romans 14:23 “For Whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” Therefore, one can see how quite simple it is to sin; and if the Holy Spirit is not permitted to expose this, one can easily be trapped in all kinds of deceitful errors. Just remember that Israel took 40 years to complete the eleven-day journey.
What spiritually went wrong? The answer to spiritual questions is always answered directly from the Bible itself; for the Bible is the Living Word of God.
